Ajaccio is the capital of Corsica, a small island situated right under France. It is a small city with around sixty-six thousand habitants and is well known for being the birthplace of French Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. The city is filled with sites relating to the French Emperor, from his childhood home to seafront statues, museums and street names.
The concept for this city branding was to create a fresh, modern look to renew and highlight the city, as well as keeping important aspects of its cultural heritage. The contemporary elements of the design are reflected through the colour palette, inspired by the colour of the buildings found in the city. The logo represents a simplistic version of the statue of Napoleon which is found in Ajaccio. The historical and traditional aspects of the design are demonstrated through the patterning elements, created from the house where Bonaparte was born. Together, all the elements create a strong and unique branding which perfectly represent the city.
